چکیده

Production of negative strangeness in reactions of inelastic anti-neutrino scattering on a nucleus provides information on the modi cation of strange degrees of freedom in nuclear matter. We calculate cross-sections of the reaction channels e( ) ! e ( ) +K and e( ) + p! + e ( ) and investigate their sensitivity to the medium e ects. In particular, we consider e ects induced by the presence of a low-energy excitation mode in the K spectrum, associated with the correlated -particle and proton-hole states, and the renormalization of the weak interaction in medium. In order to avoid double counting, various contributions to anti-neutrino scattering are classi ed with the help of the optical theorem, formulated within the non-equilibrium Green's function technique. Strangeness Production in Neutron Stars

Production of strange quarks in neutron stars is investigated in this work. Three cases, one in which the energy and neutrinos produced in the strangeness production reactions are retained in the reaction region, second in which the neutrinos are allowed to escape the reaction region but the energy is retained and the third in which both the energy and neutrinos escape the reaction region are c...

The 0 + → 0 + positron double - β decay with emission of two neutrinos in the nuclei 96 Ru , 102 Pd , 106 Cd and 108 Cd

Theoretical results for two neutrinos in the nuclei 96Ru, 102Pd, 106Cd and 108Cd are presented. The study employs the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov model to obtain the wave functions of the parent and daughter nuclei, in conjunction with the summation method to estimate the double beta decay nuclear matrix elements. The reliability of the intrinsic wave functions of 96,102Ru, 96Mo, 102,106,108Pd and ...

Strangeness in Stellar Matter

A protoneutron star is formed immediately after the gravitational collapse of the core of a massive star. At birth, the hot and high density matter in such a star contains a large number of neutrinos trapped during collapse. Trapped neutrinos generally inhibit the presence of exotic matter – hyperons, a kaon condensate, or quarks. However, as the neutrinos diffuse out in about 10-15 s, the thre...

An overview of neutrino-nucleus interactions is presented. After a brief discussion of theory and applications of detector response three examples are discussed: i) Recent work on neutrino-deuteron reactions, ii) Probing strangeness content of the nucleon with neutrinos, and iii) The role of neutrino reactions in supernova dynamics and r-process nucleosynthesis. Recent observations of solar 1),...

An Effective Equation of State for Dense Matter with Strangeness

An effective equation of state which generalizes the Lattimer-Swesty equation for nuclear matter is presented for matter at supernuclear densities including strange baryons. It contains an adjustable baryon potential energy density, based on models of local potentials for the baryon-baryon interactions. The features of the equation rely on the properties of nuclei for the nucleon-nucleon intera...
